The Return of the Amazins

Saturday was a bright spot in a rather dim year at Citi Field. The 1969 Mets were back together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their World Championship win. The pitching was so deep on that team. It was great to see Nolan Ryan reunite with his teammates after so many years. You gotta love Yogi!

The 1969 Mets were a big deal in my house growing up. They got me excited about baseball. Tommie Agee was my hero. I still have and use the world champion glasses my parents got from filling up the gas tank. Eight gallons purchased got you a beer mug. Photos from Citi field are courtesy of my brother Al Sartorius, a season ticket holder. The Mets are still a big deal in my family.

McCartney at Citi Field

I can't comment on the show. I wasn't there, but the people that were, told me it was a fun show. Paul McCartney has managed to do something a lot of rockers (both old and young) haven't, enjoy the music, play it like it was just released yesterday and celebrate the audience. There is always a smile on that guy's face. Seeing him on Letterman, it was evident how much pleasure he gets in performing. Sure it's great to earn all that money on the road, but I believe he loves what he does.

McCartney Another NY First

Paul McCartney is set to be the first concert at Citi Field according to today's NY Daily news. The Beatles were the first to play Shea. McCartney was one of the last to sing there with Billy Joel and now he'll be the first to grace the new stadium. Said McCartney "So, to be the first to play this stadium is incredible. I am really looking forward to a buzzing show."

The shows are set for July 17 & 18, with rumors swirling that a third show might be added for July 21st. Tickets go on sale Monday, June 15 at 10:00 A.M. EST online exclusively at www.507TIXX.com and by phone at 718-507-TIXX.

Season Opener At Shea (oops!)

Tonight is the Mets official opening of Citi Field, which I continue to call Shea. My friend T'Boo refers to it a Two Shea (touche). In the spirit of things, my dog Dusty put on her game face and donned a Mets jersey. Let's Go Mets!
